Cancer treatment in private hospitals

Cancer is the name given to a malignant tumour caused by irregularities in the normal processes of cell division. There are more than 200 types of cancer affecting different parts of the body - and correspondingly there are many different types of cancer treatment including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, as well as a number of newer innovative treatments. Although one of the most feared medical conditions, advances in oncology, the study of cancer, mean that for many patients there is now increased hope of recovery with an increasing variety of cancer treatment options.

Only a few private hospitals provide the extensive resources required for cancer treatment. The major private cancer treatment centres are concentrated in the London area.
