Hernia surgery

A hernia is a weakness in the stomach or abdominal wall. There are various forms of treatment - open hernia repair surgery using a mesh to repair the weakness, and keyhole hernia surgery which may enable you to return to normal activities sooner.

 

A hernia is a protrusion of a tissue, structure, or part of an organ through the muscular tissue or the membrane by which it is normally contained.

 

Types of hernia include:

  • Inguinal hernia

  • Femoral hernia

  • Umbilical hernia

  • Incisional hernia

  • Diaphragmatic hernia

 

What does it cost

What do hernia operations cost?

Hernia repairs in a private hospital or clinic cost in the region of £1,400 to £2,700 inclusive of hospital charges and consultant’s fees. Primary inguinal hernia surgery will cost around £1,500. Umbilical hernia repairs cost around £1,700.
