DNA Paternity Testing: Making the right choices

Many people use the Internet to learn about DNA testing but how can you be sure that the DNA tester you find online is a UK accredited and ethical supplier, or just a “one man band” with a website and a link to a lab overseas?

• Why should people be recommended to have a “court approved” test when “home” testing appears to be cheaper?

One type of test Cellmark do NOT carry out is the so-called "peace of mind" testing otherwise known as "curiousity testing", "self sampling testing" and "home testing". Such tests do not follow the same rigorous standards that Cellmark's "Court Approved" DNA tests do. Cellmark believe that their customers get peace of mind by knowing that their paternity test will be carried out professionally and reliably by the UK's most experienced paternity laboratory. Cellmark customers know that they can trust the test results and be certain that they will be legally accepted.

How does it work?

Cellmark use simple painless mouth swabs for DNA test sampling, no needles or blood, ideal for all customers. Accredited by the UK Ministry of Justice, Cellmark’s DNA paternity test results are accepted as evidence of paternity in UK courts of Law.

You can make the initial registration online in a few minutes - then the samples themselves are taken by a nurse or GP and are sent in tamper-evident packaging to Cellmark's UK laboratories.

Once the samples have been received Cellmark produces standard reports within 3-5 working days.
